Default Which Buggy to choose????

I have 3 buggys to choose from:

1) Maxxam 150cc buggy in excellent condition mechanically & cosmetically $500

2) Helix 150 for $450. Needs tires, front lower arm, seat, seat belt. Rode hard per appearance

3) Dazon 250cc water cooled engine. Left outsde under tarp so it is weathered but everything is there. Hasn't run for a year so battery is dead and can't hear run or drive it. It is the on road version with lights & all options. Price $450

This is my first buggy. Once sorted, the Dazon is more powerful and better optioned. But is a 150cc buggy best for a first? I am a good amateur mechanic having restored cars and rebuilt engines & transmissions and am retired so I have time. What is your opinion as to what to choose?

1st of all welcome to our little club. as far as which buggy to choose I would say if you are itching to ride, go with the one running. I just bought a helix similar to the one you are talking about, and so far it has been a money pit and still not running. I only paid 300 for it though.

I would be tempted to go for the 250. But as noted by Zman if you cant see it run there could be many problems that need addressed. The Helix is a very good buggy but as you noted it has been rode hard so again could end up a money pit. So if it were my choice I would get the One that runs and looks great. And you will be surprised at what the 150 is capable of. Welcome to the forum.
