Restored Yerfdog GX150
I bought a new #3206 GX150 but rotting under a tree in the elements. Figured I'd completely restore it to new condition since I've never seen a complete Spiderbox before! Engine had been run long enough to make a trip around the yard and was parked under a tree since 12-2005. It was rusted everywhere from total coverage of leaves and rotting debris, the paint was UV faded and all the rubber parts were rotted. Knowing that stock parts are still available it made it easy to replace everything but the ball joint boots.I stripped it all down, removed all the rust, replaced 80% of the rusted nuts & bolts, and of course primer & 3 coats of paint (Rarerat Red). I had forgotten just how slow a stock Spiderbox was!!!!!and so low to the ground!!!Still waiting on the padding covers to come in and then it's complete.
Here's a quick vid of this Yerf vs. the wife's driven by my 7yr.old who doesn't shift any further than 2nd!!she's still learning, I think when she past me she forgot to do anything else!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7I0FNqLkO2w |

Food for thought when comparing top speed between buggies, Metal is only @ 534'.
Good air plays a HUGE role in performance. I haven't GPS ed our Yerf for a couple of years, but back when it was stock, I think we only got about 29 or 30 mph out of it, but then again I am a pretty big guy & we are @ 5500'. Still no matter how you slice it, that is a very nice Yerf!! Last edited by Rarerat; 03-08-2012 at 07:54 PM. |

My GPS had failed a few months back and started working again recently - makes me wonder- I'm trying to borrow another one to re-verify the speed just to make sure.

I have a garmin e-trex, first version, can't hook it to the computer to uplink it for software updates etc like you can with later versions. I used with mine one day and it seemed to read at least 5 mph or more slower (seat of the pants). if you can find out the accuracy range in terms of feet of the one you have, i'm pretty sure you can base just how accurate it is from that rating.
