Default Pushing gas out of the top of the fuel tank?

After I parked my Helix in the garage, I topped it off with fuel and went to bed for the night. The next morning, my wife tells me the garage smells like gas. The Helix has fuel coming out the top of the tank at the fill cap. What would cause it to push fuel out of the top of the tank, without being touched, moved, started, pushed, nudged, etc etc. Would it build enough pressure in the tank to push some fuel out the top?

Is you garage heated? The fuel can expand with warmer temps and if it was really full, it could push it out the vent.

never fuel until you get ready to go ride
just like running to gas station & fueling the car
then topping off tank and parking in garage
not a good thing when garage is usualy
warmer than outside. when i bring my punisher
into the garage you could warm your hands
around engine till it cools down

I took the cap off, removed some of the fuel, dried the cap and replaced it. We'll see how this works out. Thanks guys!
